Mata Hari - Night - Scale 200
"Mata Hari - Night - Great" is an original creation © Le Presse Papier.
Inspiration
Artist's name of an exotic dancer who also became a spy during the 1st World War, the word " Mata Hari " evokes the whole universe of an imaginary and inspiring Orient. This wallpaper model from the Presse Papier pays homage to the craze of Europeans for oriental cultures, (India, Arabic, Japanese, Maltese) which strongly influenced the fields of creation in the past. The pattern is inspired by the Indian women, these cheerful and colourful fabrics that developed and spread in Europe thanks to the maritime routes discovered between East and West. A meeting point between the cultures of these two continents, the Indian symbolizes one of the forms of the desire for exoticism and the taste for a refined and bewitching elsewhere. In the Mata Hari model, a floral fresco is drawn in arabesque and dotted lines. Bright colours reveal every detail of the gouache and create a harmonious whole. The result is a rich and elaborate composition, with the scent of reverie that takes us to invented Indies... The scale of the drawing is twice as large here.
