The courtesans of Yoshiwara - Origin
"The Courtesans of Yoshiwara - Origin" is an original creation © Le Presse Papier.
Inspiration
With this new creation, full of exoticism and charm, we invite you to a journey through space and time in the heart of Japan. Precisely in the district of Yoshiwara in Edo (now Tokyo) famous in the 17th century for its artists and courtesans. This composition where elegant women in Kimono are entangled in a vertical Japanese garden reminds us of the flowering creations of prints or thousand-year-old screens. Japonism will have a considerable influence on the revival of applied arts, especially the discovery of ukiyo-e ("image of the floating world") in Edo, a rich art of representation with the magic of its own power of poetic evocation. Following the example of the Nabis who had a great interest in Japanese Art, we carry out this work of creation and immobile travelers to share with you our inexhaustible passion for Art and for the diversity and richness of the different cultures existing since the dawn of time.
