Stripes Textile & Wallpaper

History of a timeless pattern

Stripes, lines, strokes... the stripe expresses itself in various ways. An essential element in 20th century art and research around abstraction, a strong symbol in the medieval era since it was worn by anyone considered "unfrequentable", later the stripe kept its iconoclastic aura but with a more positive tone, imbued with freedom and fantasy.

As elements of wall decoration, stripes impose a dynamic and graphic style. Modern, both chic and timeless, they are in turn English classics, inviting you to take a walk on the Planches de Deauville or celebrating the beach cabins of Saint Nazaire in M. Hulot's Holidays.

It's a whole imaginary evoking simple elegance, old-fashioned holidays but also a rich history that we summon with our striped creations.

The stripes ; les bayadères, striped wallpaper is a great classic in decoration, here is the selection of our striped creations. Note the fascinating and reference work on the cultural history of stripes by Michel Pastoureau published by Editions du Seuil!
