Collection Tradition“La Belle Otéro – Vert” is an archive restored by Le Presse Papier.
Inspiration
Beautifully painted, heterogeneous, fanciful, like Caroline Otero, famous dancer and multi-faceted figure of the Belle Epoque, this archive is filled with 19th century historicism which absorbs all previous stylistic trends. A true hidden beauty, similar to a trompe-l'oeil, this gouache arrived in our hands damaged by time and required a long restoration work.
Now available in 4 distinct colors, it reveals an intriguing pattern reminiscent of the fanciful flowers of 17th century Indienne, the scrolls of Iranian Kashmir patterns but also the scrolled arabesques of bronzes from the Napoleon 3 era.
We are very happy to have recreated the rich colors of the original archive, taking up one by one the gaps in gouache, the definition of the patterns and the work on the light emanating from the whole, particularly marked on the imaginary flowers but also on their leaves, giving them the very decorative appearance of brass or gilded bronze.
