Red: The ambivalent color of life
Red is the first color mastered by Man, from the Paleolithic with Red Ochre. In Antiquity, it was considered as the color par excellence. It then evokes power and wealth. In the Middle Ages it acquired a religious dimension and symbolized the flames of Hell. Always current, its romantic and even passionate connotation closely links it to the feeling of love of which the red rose is the prerogative. Finally, it was from the Revolution that Red gradually became a political color.
Amaranth, Bordeaux, Cherry, Strawberry, Garnet, Red Ochre, Purple, Burgundy Red, Poppy Red, Tomato Red…so many names evocative of its various facets. Red remains above all the symbol of life.
