Inspiration
Artist name of an exotic dancer who also became a spy during the First World War, the words “ Mata Hari ” evokes the entire universe of an imaginary and inspiring Orient. This wallpaper model from Presse Papier pays homage to the European enthusiasm for oriental cultures (India, Arab, Japanese, Maltese) which strongly influenced the fields of creation in the past. The pattern is inspired by Indiennes, these cheerful and colorful fabrics which developed and spread in Europe thanks to the maritime routes discovered between East and West. A meeting point between the cultures of these two continents, the Indienne symbolizes one of the forms of the desire for exoticism and the taste for a refined and captivating elsewhere. Mata Hari model, a flowery fresco is created entirely in arabesque and dotted lines. Bright colors reveal every detail of the gouache and create a harmonious whole. The result is a rich and elaborate composition; with a scent of daydream that takes us to invented India…
