Inspiration
With its vertical and horizontal geometric composition, the " Dada Pattern " is a tribute to the Swiss Dada movement, which emerged during the First World War. Iconoclastic, modern, eclectic, and reactive, Dadaism declared itself against traditional values and placed life at the center of its creative process.
Among this profusion of thoughts, techniques, and artists, we wished to honor the work of the Swiss artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp (1889-1943), a leading figure of the Dada movement and later of Surrealism. Trained in weaving, she quickly became interested in other artistic forms: paper cutting, mosaics, stained glass, furniture, costumes… versatile and talented, she joined the Dadaists through her husband, Hans Arp.
We find ourselves in her artistic vision in which art and craftsmanship combine together in creations made to be touched, handled and experienced.
The Dada Pattern echoes Sophie Taeuber-Arp for geometric shapes, their arrangement with colors creating a perfect balance of abstract composition.
