Inspiration
With its repetition of offset lines, more or less thick and irregular, “ Hotel Royan ” recalls the aesthetic deployed in the carpets of the 1930s transposing the modernity of Cubist creations to the decorative arts.
The colorful variants of this model are also a nod to the tapestries and carpet cartoons of Sonia Delaunay , a protean artist, who sought to use the movement created by colors to the point of abstraction.
Finally, we wanted to highlight the city of Royan, an emblem of modernity and experimentation. Totally destroyed after the Second World War, subsequently becoming a field of exploration for new architectural forms in the 1950s with for example the achievements of Le Corbusier or Niemeyer , we are inspired by its capacity for regeneration.
