Palm Watercolor – Origin
Collection Palm“Palm Watercolor” is an original creation © Le Presse Papier .
Inspiration
Composition with a beautiful height of 124 cm, entirely drawn with watercolor and pencil, this model represents a stylized vision of the very decorative “Kentia” palm tree.
The palm leaf motif has become a part of the decorative arts for its durability and graphic character. Since Antiquity, palmettes have adorned Greek architecture, under the Empire they persisted and then continued to inspire the world of painters, captivated in the 19th century by oriental lights, such as Monet, Bonnard, Gauguin and Dufy. Very popular in its stylized version, the palm leaf is a major ornament of the Art Deco period.
We take part in the tradition of representing this motif in the decorative arts by presenting its elegant hand-drawn leaves in a colorful range, for a very light rendering.
